On the docket for Thursday was Hasselblad, ABB Robotics, and the Frölunda Indians hockey game! From the start of day we had an interesting path to get to our destination, since Hasselblad is across the river on one of the large islands that is close to the heart of the city. We ended up taking the tram to a boat which gave us a 6 minute ride across the river. From there it was about a 6 minute walk to the location. Hasselblad as you may already know is the leading producer of Professional Cameras.

You may have heard of Hasselblad due to their landmark camera that they had the opportunity to develop a camera along with NASA that was used to take photos on the Apollo 11 Moon landing. It is the first and only camera to ever go to the moon and due to NASA wanting to use the weight capacity to bring back moon rocks, most of the Hasselblad cameras that go to the moon, stay there. Today each camera is made by hand at the headquarters in Gothenburg.
“A camera as a result from of a passion is much better than one developed from Market study” -Ove Bengtsson

From Hasselblad we headed East to ABB Robotics for an amazing lunch at the restaurant inside the ABB offices. Unfortunately there were no engineers at the office, so we weren’t able to see any demos of the ABB Robots in action, but we saw them in action on the SKF and Volvo factory tours. We instead talked about current and future trends in technology. There was quite a bit of insightful information and eye opening technology that is in development and just being released within the next twelve months.

For the evening entertainment we met up with Morgan and Sylvia, our tour guides from Volvo, for dinner at a Chinese restaurant to fuel up before sliding over to the Scandinavium to catch the Frölunda game. It was the 1000th game that Joel Lindqvist’s has stated for the Indians. His brother Michael Linqvist played for the New York Rangers.

If you have been following along from the beginning, you know that I have family heritage back to Sweden. So I thought it was only fitting to get the traditional spelling of my last name which is spelled with two S’s. So it would be spelled as Larsson. To my surprise it was very reasonable to get a customized jersey.

Frölunda ended up winning 8-4! It was such a fun game that myself and a few others bought tickets for the game on Saturday! it won’t quite be row 3 like this game was, but it will still be fun to be in the crowd. After the game, we headed back to the area around our hostel and we decided to celebrate the long day and the win with a drink at one of my favorite spots to hang out and grab a drink to relax, John Scott’s. This time around I ordered a John Scott’s Beeronade Lemon Ale.
