Lazy Sundays in Sweden

John Scott’s Brunch!

Today was another free day, so we used it as a recovery day for both the lack of sleep and the fun we had on Saturday night. It was a bit of a slow start, but there is nothing wrong with a lazy morning!

After we got up and moving Peyton and I went on the tram over to Avenye to grab brunch at John Scott’s. It is a chain restaurant here in Gothenburg, and has about 13 locations across Sweden, you may have read about it in past blogs. But I ordered a John Scott’s Burger, again you may have read this in other blogs, but it was so good, I had to go back to it! Served along with it was a Mimosa. Peyton got a Vegan burger and a Bloody Mary. It was a solid brunch! After brunch, we headed south on Avenye to the Goteborgs Konstmuseum. Or in english, the art museum. On display there was paintings, drawings, sculptures, and photographs. Some notable names were Picasso, Monet, Rembrandt. You can get the picture that it was a pretty amazing time! The dilemma was it was 6 different floors, so it took quite a bit to get through. By the time we got through all of the floors, it was time to go back to the hostel for a group dinner. We were going to a bit of an Iron Chef competition with the group members, but we don’t have a ton of culinary folks on the trip, so we went to the store and grabbed some stuff for appetizers and desserts. Then ordered a bunch of pizzas form a pizzeria up the street.

After dinner I needed to catch up on sleep badly, so I went to bed at 9PM, but good news, Friends is still on Netflix in Europe so I got to throw an episode and pass out!

Takeaways

  • Being lazy on a Sunday is the best way to go
  • Seeing artwork from the 1800’s is a feeling that I’ve never felt before
  • A good nights sleep after 10 days of grinding it out, HITS DIFFERENT
